Milan Moving Towards Sacking Conceição Despite Board Support

An Italian press report on Monday indicated that there is a growing inclination within AC Milan to dismiss Portuguese head coach Sérgio Conceição, despite public support from the club's management.

Milan was recently eliminated from the Champions League play-off round for the Round of 16 after losing to Feyenoord.

Conceição’s Future in Jeopardy

According to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Milan's backing of Conceição could change if the team suffers two consecutive negative results against Bologna and Lazio in the upcoming matches.

The report also stated that Conceição signed a contract with Milan in December, extending until June 2026, with a monthly salary of €1 million.

A Clause That Could Seal His Fate

His contract includes a clause allowing Milan to terminate it early if the team fails to qualify for the Champions League next season, further increasing the likelihood of his departure.

Supercoppa Triumph Not Enough to Secure His Job

The report emphasised that winning the Italian Super Cup would not be sufficient to guarantee Conceição's continued tenure at Milan.

The Portuguese coach lifted the Italian Super Cup title in January, in Riyadh, just days after taking charge of the team.
